Headteacher Weekly Newsletter

Mr Litten will be writing a weekly newsletter,  with the  aim to share with you all that is good about our school and its children.

Dear Parents, pupils and staff

Last week was incredible: Odd Socks Day; the school kitchen staff winning an award; Children in Need and even a visit from Pudsey Bear and his very enthusiastic team. Lots of happiness, fun and carefree moments - something we all want for every child.

.

Odd Socks Day

It is all part of Anti-Bullying Week. A fun way to help children understand that it’s OK to be different but it’s not OK to be a bully.

We encouraged our children to wear their favourite odd socks (thank you for rummaging in the sock draw for them).

It's to symbolise that we are all different and that children should be themselves, accepting of one another and celebrate difference.

One Minute Silence

Former Royal Engineer Simon Williams gave an inspiring presentation to the children about the history of red poppies and led a one-minute silence to remember the fallen.

As you can imagine the children had lots of questions. Simon was keen to share the importance of teamwork and that there are many different trades in the armed forces.

The children sang a remembrance song to him, thanking him for his service. He found this very touching.

Pudsey’s Assembly

All the children were really surprised to see Pudsey Bear. The children watched a BBC film about Children in Need and how the money raised could be used.

Mr Ingham then asked the children to call for Pudsey in the hope that he might appear. The look on the children’s faces was incredible.

The BBC team and Pudsey commented on what an amazing school Park Lane is and the enthusiasm of the children. ‘High Fiving’ Pudsey was a moment I am sure they will remember for a very long time.

Thank you to all the people who helped to organise this event (I’m still not entirely sure how this was made possible) nevertheless, you made lots of children very happy – THANK YOU!

Children in Need

A very special Children in Need this year!!! Not only did we have great fun dressing up and raising money, but Pudsey Bear also came to visit!

There is a lovely film of Park Lane children on the BBC Cambridgeshire website - please have a look and be super proud!

Thank you for reading the newsletter we are proud of our school, its staff and its amazing children.

Kindest regards,

 Mr Rob Litten
